Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II (Jagjaguwar, 2013)

After Foxygen's We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic, here we are with another psychedelic pop kinda masterpiece released by Jagjaguwar in 2013. I'm talking about the second album of the Portland power trio Unknown Mortal Orchestra, guided by the composer Ruban Nielson.
II is a friendly psychedelic suite that encompasses a wide spectrum of influences: first and above all, a 60s psychedelic pop with a mersey beat blood flowing in the veins; then, if you listen to it carefully, you can hear a lot of funk, soul and blues scraps, mixed all together through a great and original songwriting which manages to create simple pop songs that easily stick in the neurons (me I'm trapped with From The Sun since yesterday night).
Maybe I'm exaggerating, and this one would be certainly considered by many as nothing more than another album of psychedelic pop revival; but I really do think these guys have talent and they can deliver us a lot of great music in the next years. Stay tuned!

Best tracks: From The Sun, Swimp and Sleep (Like A Shark), One At A Time, No Need For A Leader, Faded In The Morning, Secret Xtians
